tournament types
DYP: Draw Your Partner Doubles
BYP: Bring Your Partner Doubles
Split-Draw: Players are divided based on their local rating. A player from each pool is drawn to form teams. Generally, this pairs an inexperienced player with a more experienced partner.
Seeded-Draw: The highest rated player is paired with lowest rated player, the second highest rated player is paired with the second lowest rated player and so forth, until the two players rated in the middle are paired.
Limited Doubles: A Bring Your Partner event that limits the team rating points total to a posted number; often 3000 or 3500 points. The idea is to force experienced players to choose less experienced partners.
Combo-Event Night: Alternate between Goalie Wars/Forward Shootout and Goalie Wars/Singles. It will also alternate between Handicapped and NOT Handicapped. Single or double elimination will depend on turnout.
Special Entry Singles:Handicapped Singles. Entry fees based on LOCAL points. Graduated Entry fees are: < 1300 pts = $5+$1, 1301+ pts = $10+$1, 1601+ pts =$15+$1 and 1901+ pts = $15+$5. These fees are based on LOCAL points, so unrated out of town players MUST arrive early enough to get rated (8 pm). Please note that the highest rated players will pay an additional players association fee! There will be a bonus for the highest placing player rated at 1500 or lower (double return on entry fee).
King of the Hill: NO Handicap. Single game pick-up style doubles. Assemble a team and attempt to overthrow the King! A point is awarded to each player of the winning team for every game that is won after they've outed the previous King team. You may NOT have the same partner for two consecutive attempts to get to the "Big Dog" table. Prize money is be split by the top 3 players AND the player rated below 1500 points who earns the most points in this format. There will be a sign up list to determine order of play on the preliminary table*. *=Depending on turnout, we may use two OR three tables in this format. Points can be earned after 9 pm AND after we have at least 6 participants, so be on time!
Local Pros Only: Typically a Draw-Your-Partner event. Only players with 1700+ points are allowed to participate. (Occasionally, players with 1500+ points are eligible).
Attendance-Reward DYP: A handicapped Draw-Your-Partner doubles tournament for players with good to great attendance at our weekly events. There will be NO BASE ENTRY FEE for this event, only table-maintenance and dues will be charged. Currently, players must attend at least four weekly events in the previous calendar month to qualify. If there are not enough qualifiers, wild-cards will be assigned for some players close to qualifying attendance. When more players begin to meet the qualification requirements, the standards will be raised. If there are not enough qualifiers, the standards MAY be lowered slightly. The Payout for this event will be $100 for doubles (10+ participants), OR $50 for singles (up to 9 participants).
Beginners Night: This will be a flex-format event. With 4-7 players, this will be a singles event; with 8+ players, this will be a Draw-Your-Partner event (DYP). This event will have NO BASE ENTRY FEE, only table-maintenance and dues (as appropriate) will be charged ($1-2). Payout for this event will consist of one pitcher of draft beer for each player on the winning team, and FREE ENTRY into the main event on the following Saturday.
At this time, players rated locally at <1500 pts will be eligible to participate. The winners of this event, especially those with multiple wins, will be evaluated for possible promotion or graduation from the Beginners Division.
There will also be a Foosball Clinic and a "Beat The Pro" Contest for those who want to test and improve their skills, be more competitive, and even win some cool prizes!
